Kehila Chadasha is a member-directed community. Since its beginning it has adhered to egalitarian governance, with all members in attendance allowed to vote on matters that come up. Along with the rights of membership comes the responsibility to help. Every member is expected to serve on a committee and actively participate in making community events happen.
And, in typical Kehila style, members who want to do something that's not already planned are generally free to organize a new activity. Thus, we have a choir to sing Jewish music, an active group making and selling beaded jewelry to fund efforts to fight AIDS, and as a community we have created beautiful works of art to grace our holidays and celebrations.
